Jacob receives God's blessing
Even the great heroes of the bible got caught up in sin. It seems Abraham’s entire family found they were able to get ahead by lying. In chapter 27 Jacob executed an elaborate deception to receive his father’s blessing. Yet God looked deep inside all these individuals and searched for the qualities needed to build a great nation. God looked inside Esau and saw a man more interested in the thrill of the hunt than in the daily routine of leading a family. In Jacob, God saw a thoughtful man who would accept the role of father protector and care for all of his family.
