Rebekah's Faithfulness to God
We naturally focus on Rebekah’s deceit in Genesis 27. But we forget that she was the one that remained faithful to God’s promise. In Genesis 25:23 God spoke to her directly, telling her that the Great Promise of 12:1-3 would be passed to Jacob, not Esau. She remained faithful to God's promise, even though Isaac preferred Esau because of his hunting skills. But finally, after he unwittingly gave his blessing to Jacob, Isaac acknowledged God’s intention. When he called Jacob to him in chapter 28, he passed the Great Promise on to his younger son.
