Saving Face or Saving Grace?
King David has always been a master of managing his faith instead of attempting to manage the crisis he was facing. In fact, he is so good at doing so, that he has always been the foil to those in the story who were attempting to save face by managing the crisis. Now, in a moment of weakness, David sees something that is not his and takes it, and instead of turning to God in his mistake, he makes matters worse by taking things into his own hands. And now that David has made such an error and sought to cover it up in secret, he will answer for choices in a very public way.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen, and David's story will have us asking ourselves this very question: What are we more focused on when we make a mistake...saving face or saving grace?
