Sibling rivalry sometimes goes to the extreme. In the case of Jacob’s wives Leah and Rachel, they competed using the children they bore to their husband. They used their slaves to compete in the rivalry, and they even used Jacob himself. Imagine him coming in from the field and meeting Leah who told him, “you must sleep with me tonight because I have hired you with my son’s mandrakes”. Jacob must have been exhausted trying to keep these women happy.
