Netherwood Park ladies retreat

August 23 & 24

The 2nd Annual Ladies Retreat is August 23 & 24 at Netherwood. The cost is $25. There is a panel discussion on Friday night from 6-9pm, breakfast will be served at 8:30am with speakers and discussion from 9am-2pm. To register call 505-256-7389 or go to netherwoodpark.com.

Aloha Shirt Sunday

August 25

Next Sunday, August 25, we will have our Fourth Annual Vernon Beach Aloha Shirt Sunday. This is a fun way to remember a wonderful Christian brother who loved his Hawaiian Shirts. So, on the 25th, put on your best Hawaiian Shirt. Then be here to worship God with your church family and to honor a Godly man’s memory.

Family Camp Registration

Family Camp (Aug. 30-Sept. 2nd) is right around the corner and we would love to have you join us! Hiking, games, campfire, and worshiping in the great outdoors is just part of what the weekend has in store. Today is your final day to register for Family Camp .  You can sign up for all or part of the weekend at the table in the foyer.  Contact Chad or Monica Darnell with questions.

 

ACCH BACK-TO-SCHOOL

It’s Back-To-School time! We have the opportunity to help the children of Albuquerque Christian Children’s Home get ready for school.  You can find the big yellow posters on the bulletin board in the foyer.

 

Men’s retreat

September 20 & 21

The area-wide men’s retreat is coming up on September 20-21.  To claim your spot you can go to www.ponderosachristiancamp.org.  It will be a great weekend.  Please plan on joining us.

Mountainside Recycle Event

Here’s your chance to clean out and declutter your closet, baby items, knick-knacks, books, tools, small appliances, kitchen item, etc.

Set up: Bring your reusable items to the Family Center on Friday, September 13th, beginning at 10:00am.

Shop: Friday, Sept. 13 from 4-7pm & Saturday, Sept. 14th from 9am-1pm.

  • Items will be placed on tables where you may select whatever strikes your fancy. Don’t have anything to recycle, come anyway! You may find something you need. Take as much as you want– all items are free!

  • All remaining items will be donated after Saturday’s event.

 

Baby shower table

The Baby Shower Table is set up in the foyer for the families of Tanya Harmount and Valerie Poland.  Both ladies are expecting baby girls this month.  Both families are in need of diapers, wipes  and/or gift cards...both are registered at Target.

Congratulations

Congratulations to former members Thomas and Rebecca Fitzpatrick on the birth of their daughter, Victoria (Tori) Grace, born on Friday, August 16th. Tori weighed 6lbs, 15oz and was 21 inches long. Bailey and Cassia are the big sisters and Tom Shoemaker is the proud grandfather.

 

Drawing Group

The Drawing Group is planning an outing to the ABQ Zoo on Saturday, August 31st. We will meet at the church building at 9:30 AM. Contact Elaine Koehler to sign up. Hopefully, we can fill up the van. Bring cameras and or sketch books. We will plan to return to the building by 1:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased that morning at the Zoo. 

 

 Prayer Requests

Sue McCall had surgery on Thursday to remove her infected knee replacement from last year. The surgery went well but Sue’s treatment and recovery will be extensive. She will have a second knee replacement after she has healed.

Dean Wadsworth is back home after spending several days in the hospital with a severe blood-born virus. He is feeling better and has appreciated the prayers.

Hunter Schlemeyer, son of Trace and Rakael, is suffering from stomach issues that the doctors have not been able to diagnose yet.

Melissa Clayton didn’t get the kind of medical results she had hoped for. Prayers are still greatly appreciated.

Howard McCall is recovering from his recent shoulder replacement surgery.

Breck Vernon, son-in-law of Roger and Julia Holloman, had surgery last week to repair a torn ligament.

Park Night 
August 18

Tonight we will have a Park Night at Lynnwood Park after evening services. Come and worship with us at 5pm, and then we will head over to the park at 6 o’clock. Food and water will be provided. Hope to see you all there.

September 15
